This Saturday morning, March 28, 2009, rain or shine, runners will depart the starting line to honor Georgia's Fallen Heroes that have paid the ultimate sacrifice during the war on terrorism worldwide. One hundred and forty-one Georgia's have lost lives since 9/11 and members of Hall County Fire and Sheriff's Department along with Arcade, Hoschton and Braselton Police Departments as well as the Jefferson Fire Department are joining together in supporting this event sponsored by the North Georgia Chapter of Operation One Voice. The brainchild of Hall County Firefighter Steve Durling, the event already has 700 pre-registered runners and over 1300 runners are expected.
Event sponsors have forgone placing any advertisement on the runner shirts so that the names and ranks each fallen Georgia soldiers are listed on the shirt. In addition, 141 yard signs containing names will be lining the route. Sixty family members of our fallen heroes will join the runners as together we show support and honor to our military.
