The 26th annual Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk and Fitness Program, the largest corporate-organized fitness event in the Southeast, is set for Thursday, September 25, beginning at 7 p.m. Designed to encourage year-round fitness, fun and camaraderie among Atlanta’s business community, program components include: “Get Active Atlanta” – a free 8-week fitness program with free Bally Total Fitness membership at all Atlanta locations beginning Aug. 4, 2008; monthly fitness and nutrition tips from Kaiser Permanente, Live Healthy Georgia and event director, Jeff Galloway; a 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk; entertainment and celebration with hundreds of metro-Atlanta company picnics popularly known as the “World’s Largest Office Party”.
The program is open to all runners and walkers (18+ years) who sign up with a corporate team. Company teams start walking/running/lunch groups which provide a positive social environment with co-worker/peer support for starting any kind of exercise/nutrition changes.
Now celebrating its 26th anniversary, the event began in Atlanta in 1983 with 900 participants from a handful of companies. Today, the event attracts more than 18,000 participants from over 600 Atlanta companies and has grown to become the largest workplace organized corporate fitness event of its kind in the Southeast.
Registration is $25 through 5 p.m. on August 25, and $30 until September 25. To register a team, call 404-843-8727 or visit www.kpcorporaterunwalk.com. A portion of the proceeds benefits Atlanta Braves Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta.
