Hunters for the Hungry Sporting Clays Fundraiser

Published Feb 28, 2008

The Lanier (Gainesville) Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) is hosting the Second Annual Sporting Clays Fundraiser on March 8th in support of its Hunters for the Hungry Program.  This is a great opportunity to come enjoy an afternoon breaking clays while helping a great cause.  100% of the proceeds stay local and will go to benefit the local Hunters for the Hungry Program!

The event will be held at Etowah Valley Sporting Clays facility in Dawsonville, GA on Saturday, March 8th.  A rain date has been scheduled for March 15th in the event of inclement weather.  Individual shooters can shoot for $100 or a squad of four for $400.  Your entry fee includes the 100 round Sporting Clay course with 12 stations, event T-shirt, steak dinner, and an opportunity to win multiple raffle prizes!  Registration starts at 2PM.  All you need to bring is your shotgun, approximately 150 shells, and eye/ear protection.  To sign up, please call Rick Walters at 678-316-2435 or Sean Ryan at 770-757-0384.

In the fall of 2006, the Lanier Branch of QDMA teamed up with one of its Corporate Sponsors, Southern Heritage Land Company (SHLC), and Patrick Hroma of PK’s Cooler in Gainesville.  The Lanier Branch of QDMA and SHLC provided the funding while Patrick provided the processing at a reduced rate.  In addition, SHLC also helped out by purchasing a separate freezer for the program.  A letter was sent to all Georgia QDMA members encouraging them to participate and other hunters were made aware of the program as they dropped off deer at PK’s Cooler.

In 2007, 2,940 pounds of ground venison were processed and distributed to local Gainesville and Hall County charities.  This amount equates to 14,700 meals!  Now, going into its third year, the Lanier Branch of QDMA and SHLC hope to expand the program even more.  Please come join us at this fundraiser so that even more local charities can benefit this 2008 deer season.
