Race for Local Football Star's Transplant Set for April 29

Published Apr 23, 2007

Fitness Together and Terra Sports have joined forces for the Walk for Carl, a 5K run/walk set for April 29th at 8:30 a.m. at the Suwanee Jubilee to raise money for Carl Lawson.  Lawson was a running back on the 1990 Georgia Tech National Championship team and is one of the top personal trainers in the metro Atlanta area, working at Fitness Together in Alpharetta.  He needs a kidney transplant but must first have $25,000 to ensure he can afford the anti-rejection medication.

The race is $25 per person (or $30 to include a t-shirt) and registration forms are available by emailing jasongoggans@fitnesstogether.com or calling 678.867.0101. All funds will be given to the National Foundation for Transplant (NFT) where they will be held for Lawson until a kidney becomes available.

Lawson was diagnosed with Focal Glomeruloscelerosis (FGSM) and experienced renal failure in 2003.  He has been on dialysis ever since, 3 times a week for 4 ½ hours a day.  He needs a kidney transplant to survive.

Sponsorships are also available.  Sponsors who donate $1000 will get a booth at the race and their logo on the t-shirt.  Sponsors who donate $500 will get their logo on the t-shirts.  Other donations are also welcomed.  Contact Jason Goggans for more information at 678.867.0101.

Suwanee Jubilee is located at 1500 Peachtree Industrial Parkway in Suwanee (www.suwaneejubilee.com).  For more information about NFT go to www.transplants.org
