Bulldog Park in Athens First of Its Kind in Nation

Published Jul 11, 2008

This week Athens, GA will become the first city in the U.S. with a privately owned luxury RV tailgating facility. On Sunday, July 13, 2008, Bulldog Park will officially open the gates, inviting owners and guests to tour the 18-acre, professionally landscaped park filled with amenities. The Grand Opening will run from 4-7pm, and will include beverages, food and live entertainment. The family-friendly event is open to the public.

The Bulldog Park ownership group includes UGA football standouts Kevin Butler, David Greene and David Pollack. All of the players will be on hand for the opening and are excited to be part of a project that has such an impact on the city of Athens and UGA fans’ enjoyment.

“Bulldog Park is going to be a great addition to UGA game day,” says Greene. “I can’t think of a better way for an RV owner to enjoy a football game in Athens.”

The luxury RV park is designed so that it may be enjoyed any weekend of the year, but the concept specifically caters to RV owners who are also UGA football fans. Over the past few seasons, game day RV parking options have dwindled, and UGA officials considered a number of viable alternatives for this loyal set of fans and supporters.

The solution came in the form of Bulldog Park, a privately owned facility which is an official licensee of the University of Georgia Athletic Association. This relationship involves a marketing component and, most importantly, means a portion of the proceeds will help support the UGAA.

Bulldog Park owners will enjoy access to a wealth of amenities not currently available to the RV owner in Athens:

· Oversized pad with room for an RV and guest parking
· Full hookups for electrical, sewer, cable and water
· Climate-controlled pavilion with attended restrooms and shower facilities
· Game day entertainment
· BBQ and picnic areas
· Playground for little Bulldog fans
· Onsite security and keyed entry to the facility
· Professional landscaping

Each space in Bulldog Park will be individually owned and available for use throughout the year. RV owners can come and go as early or late as they wish, enjoy game days with fellow Bulldog fans, and never have to worry about finding a suitable space for their RV.  For added convenience, property owners may keep their RV in Bull Dog Park for 30 days per visit.

Located on Hancock Road, which is adjacent to Olympic Drive, the park offers easy access to the loop and a 10 to 15 minute shuttle ride to the stadium on game day. Every game day Bulldog Park will provide continuous shuttle service for space owners and their guests.
