The famed former Atlanta Braves pitcher will be on-hand this week in Cumming at The Swing Doctor's grand opening festivities...
The Swing Doctor will open its doors for business on Thursday, February 1, 2007 and Major League Baseball pitcher Tom Glavine will make an appearance and throw out the first pitch. This announcement was made today by Dennis Hood, owner of The Swing Doctor and 14-year Minor League Baseball veteran.
“We are delighted that Tom will be here to meet with baseball fans in the area and celebrate the opening of our business,” stated Hood. He added, “He is a personal friend and an inspiration to millions of kids around the country.” Tom Glavine is currently a pitcher for the New York Mets and had previously pitched for the Atlanta Braves. Hood is a personal friend and previous teammate of Glavine’s. They met in 1986 while playing with the Atlanta Braves organization.
The “Opening Day” events from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm will include:
4:00 pm -- Begin sign-ups to receive ticket number for taking photos with Tom Glavine and getting his autograph. (Professional photos will be taken by Ken Rada Photography and will be available online for purchase.)
4:00 to 4:30 pm -- Meet Dennis Hood, owner of The Swing Doctor, view the facility, talk to other sports fans.
4:30 pm to 4:50 pm -- Glavine to arrive and throw out the first pitch.
4:50 to 5:30 pm -- Photos and autographs with Tom Glavine.
5:30 to 6:00 pm – Hang out and event wrap up.
