Spring Sports Opening Day to Feature Parade, Food, Fun

Dawson County Parks and Recreation announces the annual opening day event for spring sports season.

Saturday April 14, 2007 kicks off spring sports season with a parade from Riverview Middle School to Rock Creek Park. The parade will take place between 9am and 10am. Following the parade, experience opening ceremonies, games and activities with food sponsored by Longhorn and Chick-fil-A of Dawsonville. There will be train rides, inflatables, moonwalks, carnival games, baseball, softball, and soccer games, vendors booths with lots of fun stuff, pet adoptions, and a petting zoo.

This year's event will be a kick off to the 150th Anniversary of Dawson County Celebration.     

¯      Breakfast available for purchase in the morning at Riverview Middle School and Rock Creek Sports Complex

¯      Box lunches (drinks sold separately) provided by Longhorn & Chick-Fil-A for $5 each

¯      Boiled peanuts

¯      Team flag/banner contest to be judged

¯      Carnival games & activities

¯      Airbrushed batting helmets on site

¯      Various vendors

¯      Freddie Falcon (Atlanta Falcons mascot) --- bring your cameras!

¯      British Soccer Camp Registration (registration forms enclosed)

¯      Tennis Registration

For the safety of all involved, no parking will be allowed in the parking lot between the big pavilion and the soccer fields.
