Alpharetta Student Signs Letter of Intent to Join the UGA Baseball Team

University of Georgia Bulldog baseball coach David Perno announced this month that 16 student-athletes have signed a national letter of intent during the recently completed early signing period.

The newest Bulldog class features 10 recruits from Georgia, one an Alpharetta student from Chattahoochee High School.

"We have a balanced class of pitchers, hitters and catchers who are athletic and are hard workers on the field and in the classroom," said Perno. "This is a very talented class, and it's a credit to the work put in by our staff including Roger Williams, Doug Sisson, Jason Eller and Brian Jester.

One of Georgia's early signees is Alpharetta student, Matt Cerione. Here's a snapshot of Matt's athletic highlights:

Matt Cerione: Hit .414-17-51 for the 5-A state champion Chattahoochee squad and coach Tim Lemons...Led Cougar to a 33-4 mark and final national ranking in Baseball America's top 25..Aflac All-American Top Prospect...Team.MVP for the Cougars...Named Atlanta Journal All-Area Player of the Year and key member of Junior Team Georgia and Dugout Club All-Tournament team...Son of Kathy and Mike Jessee.
