Trey Poole Finishes Winter Season in 2nd, Looks Forward to Future

Published Mar 12, 2008

Trey Poole wrapped up his first season of competition in the Legends Pro division behind the wheel of the No. 91 Aaron’s Dream Machine this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Poole finished the final race in second and also clinched second place in both the Georgia Winter Series and the Winter Flurry Series championship standings.

Nineteen-year-old Poole, nephew of NASCAR champion Bill Elliott, finished the combined Georgia Winter / Winter Flurry Series with one victory, ten top-fives, and twelve top-tens in twelve starts.  His lowest finish was seventh.  Poole was 47 points out of first in the Georgia Winter Series and only 12 points behind in the Winter Flurry Series.

“This has been a great season in the Aaron’s Dream Machine,” Poole said after the season finale at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  “We’ve had some great runs, and – more importantly – I’ve learned a lot in my first season in the Pro division.  I’ll be able to use that in the summer season and hopefully make a run for the Pro championship.  I’ll also be running some Late Model races, trying to get some more experience as I continue toward my goal of racing in NASCAR.  I would also like to thank Aaron’s for their support.  They have been a great sponsor, and I’m proud to drive for them.  Hopefully we’ll bring home a championship for them next season.”

Poole, who drives for the Bill Elliott Racing driver development program, will continue to compete in the No. 91 Aaron’s Dream Machine in the Legends Pro division in next summer’s Thursday Thunder Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  He will also begin running a Late Model stock car for BER to continue developing his skills as they prepare him for a career in racing.

Poole will also compete for the INEX Pro championship in 2008.  INEX is the international sanctioning body of the Legends, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster Cars.  Formed in 1995, INEX was developed to promote, organize and sanction Legends Car, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster racing across the United States, Canada and Europe.  For more information about the INEX organization, please visit 600racing.com.
