The Georgia WRD is planning to stock the Chattahoochee River at Whitewater Park in East Palisades on Monday, February 20, 2006 at 11:00, if there is enough volunteer interest. Willing volunteers are asked to e-mail Bill Couch, so we will know if enough folks will be coming.
Volunteers should wear weather appropriate clothing (including hip boots or waders), bring a 5- gallon bucket and a strong back. This stocking location is in one of Georgia's Delayed Harvest stream sections. Fishing after the stocking is usually very good, and this can be a great opportunity for novice or experienced anglers to "mentor or introduce a prospective angler" to the sport of fishing.
Directions to DH Stocking Locations:
Whitewater is just north of where I-75 crosses the Chattahoochee River. Access is from the Mt. Paran exit at I-75. From the Mt. Paran exit, go east on Mt. Paran to Harris Trail. Take a left on Harris Trail to Whitewater Ck. Rd. go left on Whitewater Ck. Rd. about 1/4 mile to the entrance on the right.
If you arrive early, please ensure there is room for the stocking truck to park or access the gate.
Although this is the last planned volunteer stocking at Whitewater, the Cochran Shoals Work Day is scheduled for March 11, 2006, and Work Day participants will be used to help spread fish in the Cochran Shoals Delayed Harvest Section, prior to the workday.
If you'd like to receive future mailings, please contact Bill via e-mail. Include your name, and e-mail address, and note that you would like to be included on "Bill's Volunteer List." The list will include future volunteer opportunities and occasional items of interest to the angling public.
