A Republican from Suwanee Chooses Not To Support Republican Fund-raising Efforts

The Georgia Republican Party called me today. A nice man wanted money to "build the party" and "help Sonny Perdue". Well that is all fine and good I thought.

But, I had to respectfully decline. I do not want to help the Republican Party. Actually, they have disappointed me so much in the past few weeks; I have even wondered why I vote.

I explained to the man that I cannot give money to Sonny Perdue or any Republican for that matter because I am sick and tired of the Republicans "rolling on their back and putting their legs in the air" each time the Democrats criticize, whine, or complain. Blame it on my naiveté, but I thought the MAJORITY party, not the minority gets to push the agenda. I stare at the TV in amazement at the issues our party gives up on day after day. Issues such as social security, taxes, and judicial nominees (hurray for the "brave" moderates of our party my hind foot) are pushed further behind. We are the majority in Georgia and the United States. Boy, you would never know it by the way we Republicans act sometimes.

Conservative Republicans - listen up. We have to start hurting these politicians where it hurts-their pockets. If you stop giving, they will start listening.

"But we will let the opposition get ahead of us if we do that." Sure, and exactly how is that any different from what is going on today in Congress and across the nation?

"Well, why should we punish all for a few bad apples?"

Because dear reader, we voters ARE the Republican Party. When all Republican (and so-called

Conservative) senators, congressman, governors, and state level politicians see a dip in contributions across the board they may think twice about giving in every time the Washington Post, New York Times, or any screaming self serving liberal for that matter- wags a finger at our agenda. Evidently emails, blogs, and polls do not matter to these Republican office holders, but I do not have to tell you that the threat of money and power loss is a fantastic motivator. It

is time to let these campaigns know this when they call you begging for your hard earned money.

Ah well, I can only dream that we voters have enough bravado to pull our on "nuclear option"

with our wallets. I guess it is a fantasy that we can say "no" to giving and that campaign leaders and politicians will listen. And I am sure we will keep giving blindly each time the nice man from the Party calls to tell us how we need to help this one or that one-instead of just saying, "When they start doing what we elected them to do, we will start giving."
