On April 16, 2009 the Dawson County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to proclaim May 1, 2009 as “Silver Star Banner Day.”
Dawson County honors the sacrifices of the men and women of the Armed Services and supports Silver Star Families of America in remembrance of the blood sacrifice of our wounded and ill.
Silver Star Families of America gives thousands of Silver Star banners to the wounded. Their sole mission is that every time someone sees a Silver Star banner or flag, people remember the sacrificed for this county, state and nation.
The people and leadership of Dawson wish that the sacrifice of so many in our Armed Forces never be forgotten.
