The North Georgia College & State University Orchestra will present a concert of chamber orchestra repertoire on Tuesday, April 14, at 8 p.m., in the university’s Hoag Auditorium.

The program will feature North Georgia violin majors, Martha Gardner and Carla Ganyard, who will perform as soloists with the orchestra on Vivaldi’s Concerto in A Minor for Two Violins. The concerto performance will also mark the first public use of the university’s newly acquired Neupert harpsichord, a gift to the NGCSU Performing Arts Department by Joe Richardson, in memory of his wife, Nora Byers Richardson.

The program will include the world premiere performance of Twilight: Rhapsody for String Orchestra by Cody Brookshire, a senior music major who is the 2009 recipient of the university’s Dismukes Distinguished Musician Award.

The concert will also feature other standards from the orchestra repertoire, including Mozart’s Symphony no. 29, the Holst, St. Paul’s Suite, and Copland’s Hoe Down.

General admission for the concert is $5 for adults and $2 for students. North Georgia students, faculty, and staff are admitted free with ID. For more information, please visit the North Georgia Performing Arts Department Web site atwww.ngcsu.edu/music
