The Georgia Department of Transportation is advising the public in middle and north Georgia to refrain from unnecessary travel this afternoon, evening and overnight through Monday morning. A mixture of snow, rain and sleet is expected to continue throughout the day, making visibility and driving conditions hazardous. For those who must drive, extreme caution is urged.
No icing on roadways, bridges or other overpasses has been reported through midday, but is possible as temperatures decline through the afternoon and particularly overnight. The Department is monitoring conditions and is in constant consultation with the National Weather Service. Crews are standing by throughout the affected area to respond as necessary.
Additional updates will be provided by the DOT as conditions warrant.
