The Dawson County Park and Recreation 11-12 Girls all-star basketball team won the state tournament for the second year in a row.  The girls won the February 27-28 District 7 tournament easily, beating every opponent by 30 or more points. 

The girls traveled to the state tournament March 6-7, beating Glennville 66-20, Fitzgerald 66-33, and Rabun County in the finals 52-35.  The 11-12 Girls have worked very hard all year and out-scored their opponents 184-90 in the tournament.  

A big thanks goes to the volunteer coaches, Jeff Parker, Kirk Porter and Barry Bearden, all who have put a lot of time into helping these girls.  Head Coach Jeff Parker said, "It’s a great experience working with such a good group of young ladies, and it’s very easy because they are all so much fun!" 
 
Ashley Parker, Sheyenne Seabolt and Cassidy Lecours have been on three Dawson County Park and Recreation state winning basketball teams.  Their first was in the 9-10 age group and now repeat champions of the 11-12 age group.  All of the girls have worked very hard to meet their goal of repeating as State Champs and all the work paid off as they rolled to a repeat win.   
 
Sheyenne Seabolt, Ansley Costly and Ashley Parker combined to score 125 of the 184 points in the tournament; teammates include Karlie Bearden, Cassidy Lecours, Brittany Griggs, Emily Hunsucker, Haily Burgess, Summer Vaughn and Payton Porter.
 
Kristi Creegan, Athletic Director for Dawson County Park and Recreation said, "I am very proud of the girls; they are a fun group to watch and be around.  All of them have put in a lot of time to the game of basketball, and I know they will continue to be successful on and off the basketball court."
