Mr. William Robert Childs, age 88 of Cumming formerly of Lowndes County, Georgia passed away Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Northside-Forsyth Hospital in Cumming, Georgia. Mr. Childs was a World War II Veteran receiving the Purple Heart. He was also a Mason with the Azalea City Masonic Lodge in South Georgia. He was a retired Electrician. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Childs in May 2005.

Survivors include his son, Buddy & Glenda Childs of Cumming; daughter, Sharon Cowart of Lake Park, Georgia. Eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survived.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7 at Lake Park Church of God with Rev. Keith Sandlin officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home on Monday, October 6. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman, Georgia.
