Robert O. “Bob” Burnett

Robert O. “Bob” Burnett, 86, of Dawsonville died Sunday October 5, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Homosassa, Florida, he lived in Dawson County for the past 25 years having moved from Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Burnett was a carpenter in both residential and commercial construction after which he worked for House of Doors until his retirement. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of WW II where he served in the European Theater and was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Virginia “Ginny” Burnett, Dawsonville; children, Robert Martin and Susan Burnett, Seminole, FL, Richard Lee Burnett, Dawsonville, Wanda and Kirk Davis, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Bruce and Katherine McDowell, Jennifer and Jimmy McDowell, Bobby and Melanie McDowell, Bobby Burnett, Jeffery and Becca Burnett, Alex Burnett, Sara Burnett, Trevor Burnett; great grandchildren, Kirk McDowell, Kaitlyn McDowell, Bruce McDowell, Noah Day, Preston Hart; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday October 11, 2008 at 11 o’clock at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Fr. Peter Rau, Msgr. Stephen Churchwell, Fr. Michael Onyekuru and Fr. Richard Morrow will officiate. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Prayer Vigil being held at 7:30 p.m.
