Rev. J. Lynn Dack, 73, of Dawsonville died Sunday March 23, 2008 at Lanier Park Hospital following a period of declining health.
Born in Painesville, Ohio, Rev. Dack had lived in Dawson County since 1993. He worked for twenty years at the East Ohio Gas Company before going into full time gospel singing with the Evangelaires Quartet. For many years he managed the group and sang baritone. He founded and pastored the First Church of God in Ft. Mitchell, AL after which he was called to pastor Ellet Community Church of God in Akron, Ohio where he served for over five years. He then pastored the First Church of God in East Liverpool, Ohio and his last pastorate was the First Church of God in Lafayette, GA where he served over seven years. He retired in 2006. Rev. Dack was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Dack, brother, Jerry Lee Dack, sisters Marjorie JoAnn Dack and JoEllen Marie Gilliam, and son in law, Stanley Curtis.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, JoAnne Groves Dack, Dawsonville, daughters and sons in law, Terri and Arnett Seeker, Sonora, KY, Vicki Curtis, Buford, GA, Lori and Anthony Pavlik, Canal Fulton, OH; mother, Judith G. Dack, Ransomville, NY; sister, Judith E. Wood, Ransomville, NY; brother, Gene Dack, Cuyahoga Falls, OH, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 25, 2008 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jeffrey L. Groves will officiate.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
