Mrs. Plennie J. Robinson, age 88, of Dawsonville passed away on Wednesday July 2, 2008 following a period of declining health.

A native of Royston, Mrs. Robinson lived most of her adult life in Dawsonville. A lifetime member of the Methodist Faith, she proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon her discharge from the service, she married her husband Ralph and began her life calling, teaching children. Mrs. Plennie began her career in the one room school houses of Dawson County and continued to teach in the elementary schools in Dawson County for over 65 years, retiring in 2005. She daily shared her love of reading with generations of school children with the reading of her beloved “Grandfather Tales”. Her memory will forever live on in the Dawson County School System with the dedication of the Plennie J. Robinson Library in the Dawson County Middle School, which will take place on August 3, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Robinson.

Survivors include: Sister and Brother in Law, Flo and George Koermer, Maryland; Nieces and Nephews: Ann Story, Stacey and Tim Gravitt, Sam and Kelley Story, Judd and Bryn Gravitt, Robert and Maryann Story, all of Cumming; Brothers in Law and Sisters in Law: Herbert and Blanche Robinson, Gainesville; C.I. Robinson, Dawsonville; Several other nieces, nephews, and a great host of friends and former students also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday July 5, 2008 at 2pm at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Hugh Fields will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dawsonville City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-9pm on Thursday and 10am-2pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
