Melba Margaret Harp

Melba Margaret Harp, 76, of Acworth died Sunday May 4, 2008 at her residence following an extended illness.

A native of Cobb County, she had lived in Dawson County fifteen years before moving to Acworth eight years ago. She was a homemaker, was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her husband of thirty eight years, Waller Alfred “Curley” Harp, Sr.; daughter, Jacqueline Marie Harp; parents, Clayton R. “Brownie” and Villa Brown and a great granddaughter, Lexi Rubio.

Surviving are her children, Kathy Webster, Acworth, Susan Jackson, Ellijay, Al and Debbie Harp, Marietta, Cindy and Clyde Jeffers, Cartersville, Norma and Jimmy Summey, Cartersville; special daughters, Linda G., Riverdale, Linda #7, Cartersville; brother and sister in law, Kenny and Louise Brown, Marietta; sisters and brothers in law, Jean Welch, Kennesaw, Mary Henderson, Summerville, Flesha Gomez, Dawsonville, Peggy and Ed Jenkins, Dahlonega, Bunzie and Max Simpson, Marietta, twelve grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 7, 2008 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jim Faix and Rev. Tommy Merritt will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Monday and all day Tuesday at the funeral home.
