February 21, 1916 – August 5, 2008

Louis J. Marotti, 92, of Dawsonville died Tuesday August 5, 2008 at Crabapple Hall in Alpharetta following a period of declining health.

Born in Manhattan, New York, he had lived in Dawson County for the past six years having moved from Beverly Hills, Florida.  Mr. Marotti retired from the U. S. Postal Service in Staten Island, New York after thirty five years of service.  A member of the Catholic faith, he was an active volunteer in all aspects of service to the church both in New York and in Florida.  He was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Jean D. Marotti.

Surviving are his children, Jo Ann Johnston, Dawsonville, Carol and Art Gundersen, Peachtree City, GA, Robert and Anna Marotti, Fairfield, CT; sister, Anne Zumbrunnen, Burnesville, MN; brother, Victor Marotti, Matawan, NJ, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday August 9, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Redeemer Catholic Church.  Fr. Michael Onyekuru will officiate.  Mr. Marotti will then be taken to Beverly Hills, Florida for entombment in Fero Memorial Gardens.

After the funeral mass, the family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1 until 5 at the funeral home.
