Jackie Lewis Teat, Sr.

Jackie Lewis Teat, Sr. of Cumming, GA died on September 17, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 68 years old and lost his courageous battle with cancer. Jack Teat was born in Athens, GA in 1940, to the late John William Teat and Louie Dell Nunnally Teat. They later moved to Charlotte, NC where Jack called his home along with his late brother, Johnny Bruce Teat.

Jack was an avid sports fan and loved coaching youth football. He started the most successful youth football program in 1968 -CYAC. CYAC won numerous state championships under his coaching. Jack was also an outstanding baseball player during the 1960's when he played in the minor leagues and semi-pros. Jack enjoyed many sports including tennis, golfing and boating.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Dale Cash Teat, three sons: Jack, Jr. and his wife, Susan, three grandchildren, Rachel, Will and John Teat; Richard Teat and his wife, Sherry, six grandchildren, Alyssa, Cory and Tina Teat, Stephanie, Jennifer and Catherine Marshall; and Mark Teat and his wife, Kimmer, and two grandchildren, Brittany and Katie Teat.

The family will receive friends on Thursday everning at 7 p.m. at Byars Funeral Home in Cumming, GA with a memorial service to follow at 7:30 p.m. Jack Teat will be cremated. The family request donations to The American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
