Dorothy Fields Brooks, 90, of Blue Ridge died Saturday April 26, 2008 at her residence following an extended illness.

Born in Dawson County, she lived most of her life in Marietta before moving to Fannin County nine years ago. Mrs. Brooks retired as a nursing assistant with Hill Haven Convalescent Center. She was a member of Cheatham Hill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Atlas J. “Shorty” Brooks; parents, Tillman and Elizabeth Fields, daughter, Sonja Grant; sisters, Clarice Bruce, Minnie Pittman; brothers, Bill Fields, Grady Fields, Preston Fields, Weldon Fields and two grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Charles Brooks, Carrollton, Allen Brooks, York, Nebraska, Erlene Kendall, Blue Ridge, Everette Brooks, Robinsville, NC; twenty grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday April 28, 2008 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Richard Wilkins will officiate. The interment will follow in the Amicalola Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
