The Historic Holly Theatre in downtown Dahlonega is among 15 community theaters chosen to take part in the Fox Theatre Institute pilot program.
The pilot program educates historical Georgia theater groups on how to successfully preserve and revitalize local arts programs. The program teaches the theater groups how to become cultural anchors of their communities. The Institute, partnered with the Georgia Tourism Foundation, will launch a professional development program that will provide hands-on technical assistance to theaters to ensure continued economic success.
The Holly Theatre Company presents a year round season of classic plays and Broadway-style musicals. The Holly Children's Theatre program offers family-oriented after school drama classes and productions.
The Fox Theatre Institute officially will launch on July 18 in Atlanta at the League of Historic American Theatres conference.
Theaters in Americus, Athens, Augusta, Brunswick, Canton, Calhoun, Fitzgerald, Macon, Marietta, Rome, Statesboro and Thomaston also are taking part in the Fox Theatre Institute pilot program.
