Georgia US Senate Candidate Dale Cardwell told attendees of a debate sponsored by Emory Law School Democrats that Congress can’t solve the obvious problems of the day because Washington is paralyzed by special interests. Cardwell said he launched his campaign to unseat Republican Saxby Chambliss last June, because the State’s senior Senator is a “borrow and spend pawn of special interests.” According to the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics, only one-third of one percent of Americans contribute $200.00 dollars or more to any given candidate, leaving the funding and consequently the “running” of Congress to corporate funded interests that pay for the campaigns of their “bought” politicians.
Cardwell told the audience, “we can provide a baseline of health care to every American, end our dependence on foreign oil and heal our broken economy, if we’re willing to elect candidates like me who will refuse special interest cash and serve the needs of everyday Georgians.”
Cardwell noted the conspicuous absence of fellow candidates Vernon Jones and race newcomer Jim Martin. Cardwell told the crowd, “Jones has dodged me since I invited him to debate the issues more than a month ago and Mr. Martin apparently thinks spending his time collecting special interest contributions is more important than answering the tough questions of an informed panel."
Cardwell leads all Democratic candidates in the latest Rasmussen survey, (March 20, 2008) extending his lead over DeKalb CEO Vernon Jones from three to six points state-wide.
According to Cardwell, “Georgians are sick and tired of seeing their government run by a handful of political insiders, and are ready to send an independent Democrat to represent their interests in the Nation’s capitol.”

Dale is right on the money when it comes to Mr. Martin.
Jim Martin raised his money from his liberal trial lawyer buddies who the AJC sited him for putting above the needs of children back when he was in the State House. They are simply returning the favor.
