The Dawson County Board of Commissioners will consider landscape architect Jim King’s request for a fast track zoning of 14.95 acres on Georgia 400 just north of Grant Road on the west side of the Golden Corridor.

The proposal is slated to go before the Dawson County Planning Commission on July 15. King has requested that county commissioners hear the proposal two nights later on July 17.

The commission will hear the Crownway Properties fast-track request at its 6 p.m. meeting on Thursday, July 10 at Rock Creek Park. Commissioners will decide if the rezoning application should be heard by the commission board on July 17 rather than July 24.

King, of Buford-based Landmark Design Associates, is representing Crownway Properties as they propose to convert two vacant residential lots into a 103,000 square-foot mixed use retail development. The development would consist of nine proposed buildings of retail and office space, complimented with 515 parking spaces.

Three of the proposed retail buildings would be two-stories high. The current owners of the properties are Lawrenceville-based Deer Run Partners LLC and 400 Corridor Partners LLC based out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

There’s no word as of yet on what retail businesses would occupy the proposed retail buildings.
