Dawsonville True Value Hardware Offers Holiday Decorating Checklist

When it comes to decorating for the holidays there are a few things to be aware of as you string the lights, hang the ornaments and put up the tree. For safety's sake, here's a checklist to make sure you're decorating the right way!

  • Don't add extra light sets to your pre-lit tree. These trees are not intended for use with other electrical equipment and adding extra lights might cause a fuse to blow and void the warranty.
  • Unless otherwise stated on the package, pre-lit trees are intended for indoor use only.
  • It's fine to hang your ornaments on the tree but be sure to hang them directly on the branches and not the wires.
  • Under no circumstances is it acceptable to paint chipped light bulbs. Special paint is used in the process of making the bulbs and you cannot match it.
  • Do not cut rope lights or string sets in order to customize the length for your decorating project. This is a direct violation of UL safety standards.
  • Although there are many who leave their lights up long into the summer, lights should be taken down after the season (90 days). Using the lights longer can cause a shorter life and void the warranty.

When it comes to holiday decorating, we've been there. Transforming your home into a wonderland is easy with a beautiful selection of lighting and decorations from Dawsonville True Value. Let us help you make your holiday season the brightest yet.
