Dawson County Emergency Services personnel recently completed two crash victim/vehicle extrication courses.
On Saturday, March 22, Dawson County Station Two hosted Extrication in Service. “Instructed by Lt. Kerry Vanderpool and assisted by Captain Douglas Wofford and FF/EMT Ryan Bramblett, the students were instructed and exposed to the various techniques involved with vehicle extrication using a small group instruction approach,” said Emergency Services Chief Lanier Swafford.
Attending were Brian Padgett, Joshua Delano, and Chris Archer.
Dawson County would like to thank Myron Padgett for his donation of the vehicles used in the class.
Dawson County Emergency Services also hosted a Crash Victim Extrication two day class taught by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency on April 19 and 20. Students were instructed again on technique for extricating patients involved in motor vehicle crashes.
According to Chief Swafford, “Hazards involving extrication on vehicles which are hybrid or contain various types of safety systems including air bags were also discussed.” He continued, “This is an annual class which allows our personnel to maintain the highest proficiency in extrication while staying abreast of the latest information and technology.”
Attending from DCES were Jason Goss, Bradley Morris, Bradley Massey, Brian Padgett, Joshua Delano, Payton Turner, Chip Rice, Shaun Benfield, Denny Blackwell, Tim Budzynski, Frankie Everhart, Bennie Ensley, and Tyler Goode. Christopher and Kedre Eakin from Gilmer County also attended the class.
