Dawson County announces Lanier Swafford has been named as Chief of Emergency Services. The former Deputy Chief of Emergency Services began his career with Dawson County in 1989 as a volunteer fire fighter. He has since served as Fire Chief, Deputy Coroner, Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic, EMS Chief, and Deputy Chief. Swafford has filled the role of Interim Chief since August.
Lanier, his wife Amy, and two children, Brendan, five, and Bailey, eight months, attend Bethel Baptist Church where he is a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Other interests include spending time with family, hiking, and community history and involvement.
