A 32 year-old Dahlonega man is dead following an early morning single-vehicle crash Friday on GA 400.
According to Investigator Ron Tomblin, Traffic Specialist with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was identified as Stephen Boone Roberts of 870 Ben Higgins Road in Dahlonega.
Tomblin said that Roberts was northbound on GA 400 at 1:00 a.m. Friday in his 2004 Jeep Wrangler when, for reasons unknown at this time, Roberts’ Jeep left the roadway, struck a guardrail and rolled several times, and then struck a tree. Roberts was ejected from his vehicle and was dead at the scene.
The wreck occurred at 1:07 a.m. in the northbound lanes of GA 400, about one-half mile south of Exit #17, State Route 306.
An investigation is continuing to determine why Roberts may have left the road. It is believed that he may have fallen asleep.
Roberts was alone in the vehicle and was not using his seatbelt.
