With a gasoline supply shortage impacting transportation for thousands of public and private sector commuters across the state, Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John Oxendine announce today that he will expand teleworking options for his agency and encouraged other government officials to do the same.
“As leaders of this State, we are obligated to find ways to relieve the burden of this gasoline shortage off the backs of taxpayers,” Oxendine said. “By allowing additional state employees to work from their homes, this action should help reduce some of the strain on our gasoline supply and benefit those in the public and private sectors who are unable to telework.”
Today, Oxendine implemented enhanced teleworking procedures for his department employees allowing any employee whose job responsibilities do not require them to be physically present at the state office building to telework for the remainder of the week or until the gasoline shortage ends.
