Zumba (pronounced zoom-bah), the hottest trend in fitness, is coming to Dawson County Parks and Recreation at Rock Creek.
”Dawson County Parks and Recreation is proud to announce the addition of the first-ever Zumba fitness class to its growing list of programs for adults,” said Programs Coordinator Buffie Henson.
Zumba combines body toning with easy-to-follow dance steps from Latin and International music. Routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt the body while burning fat.
This exciting new “fitness party” will be instructed by Patsy Brookshire, local elementary school teacher at Black’s Mill Elementary. Patsy began taking Zumba classes and enjoyed it so much that she decided to become a certified instructor of the fitness class.
“While Zumba is new to DCPR, it is already an extremely popular and rapidly growing program in surrounding areas,” said Henson. “It is so fun and easy to do, that you’ll forget that you’re exercising,” she said. Patsy encourages adults of all ages to “join the party” by giving Zumba a chance. All levels of fitness are welcome.
The first six-week session will be held Thursdays at Rock Creek from 5:00 – 6:00 pm beginning September 4. Fees are $50. Register now through August 29, 2008.
A little interested but not yet sure? Try the FREE classes on August 26, 4:30-5:30pm and August 28, 5:00-6:00pm at Rock Creek.
