Dawson County to Offer Maintain Your Brain®

Dawson County Emergency Services and the Dawson County Senior Center are teaming up with the Alzheimer's Association to present Maintain Your Brain®; how to live a brain healthy lifestyle community workshop.

The Maintain Your Brain® workshop offers practical and useful ways to stay mentally and physically healthy. Learn how to implement these tips into your daily routine to age healthier and decrease your risk for Alzheimer’s disease.

Maintain Your Brain® will be presented Thursday August 21, 2008 at the Dawson County Senior Center from 7pm – 8pm by Kim Franklin of the Alzheimer's Association. “She is very passionate about the program and works closely on cases all over the state,” said Dawson County Emergency Services Chief Lanier Swafford.” Light refreshments will be served.

The Alzheimer's Association has implemented the Maintain Your Brain® campaign to educate individuals on the importance of maintaining brain health through a healthy diet, exercise and social interaction. By regularly engaging in social activities such as volunteering and traveling, people can help decrease their likelihood of getting dementia. Also, staying physically fit by combining exercise with a diet rich in vegetables and fruit can help maintain brain health.
