Magistrate Judge Johnny Holtzclaw, along with the Dawson County Sheriff’s Department and Emergency Services, spent Wednesday morning at Robinson Elementary fitting second graders for helmets for an upcoming bike rodeo.
Since 2000, SAFE KIDS of Dawson County has been providing bicycle helmets for all second graders in Dawson County. Over 100 kids were fitted Wednesday for helmets at Robinson.
This local coalition is dedicated to fighting the number one killer of children - unintentional injuries. Dawson County is part of the National SAFE KIDS Campaign in Washington, D.C., and a part of SAFE KIDS of Georgia.
Formed in June of 2000, the Dawson County Coalition, led by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office is supported by a dedicated group including, law enforcement, EMTs, firefighters, nurses, teachers, principals, business leaders, American Red Cross, Health Department, insurance companies, Chamber of Commerce, and other community members concerned about the safety of children.
SAFE KIDS of Georgia in Dawson County is a non-profit organization and depends on the support of the local community for financial needs, and dedicated volunteers to maintain a successful coalition.
