The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a winter weather advisory which has been extended until 2:00 pm Thurday
An upper low will move rapidly from South Texas into the Southeast tonight and early Thursday. A weak low will develop along the Georgia coast…light rain is expected to develop across the South. Temperatures may hover near or just below freezing much of the early and mid-morning hours.
While a brief period of sleet is possible at the onset of the precipitation, of greater concern is the potential for freezing rain. The ground remains relatively warm from temperatures in the 70s just a couple of days ago.
Ice accumulations are expected to be confined mainly to bridges, overpasses and other elevated objects such as trees and power lines. Ice accumulations are expected to be light. A significant ice storm is not expected at this time.
