A wintry mix of precipitation is expected across North Georgia through early Thursday.
A cold and dry low level air mass is in place across North Georgia. A developing low pressure system over the Florida panhandle will spread moisture north over this cold air with a mix of snow. Sleet and freezing rain expected over much of North Georgia through early Thursday morning.
Snow developing across the mountains of Northeast Georgia will become heavier through the evening with accumulations of one to three inches and localized four to five inch snow totals possible…mainly between 7 pm and 2 am.
Warmer air surging toward northward into the area overnight will allow the now to start mixing with rain…sleet…and freezing rain after midnight. Ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch are possible toward morning on area bridges and overpasses and power lines. Precipitation will change over to all rain by late Thursday morning.
