A wind advisory remains in effect until 10 pm this evening.
Very strong winds have developed across North and Central Georgia behind a strong cold front. Sunny skies today will allow winds aloft to mix down to the ground. West to northwest winds will range between 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 40 to 45 mph likely. This will be sufficient to cause some minor damage to trees and unsecured objects such as small out buildings and outdoor furniture. High profile vehicles, particularly those traveling on north to south roadways will be susceptible to strong winds.
A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 25 to 39 mph or wind gusts of at least 39 mph are expected.
