The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a wind advisory, which is in effect from 8 pm this evening, Monday, August 29, to 8 pm edt Tuesday, August 30.

Winds associated with Hurricane Katrina will be increasing across North and Central Georgia later today and tonight. As Katrina moves into Mississippi this evening, residents of North and Central Georgia can expect winds of at least 25 mph with higher gusts throughout the night and into Tuesday. The Northeast Georgia mountains could experience somewhat higher wind speeds.

A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 25 to 39 mph or wind gusts of at least 39 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
