The AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center reports conditions in central Florida will deteriorate today as Tropical Storm Fay traverses the peninsula.
The worst conditions today will be on the eastern side of the storm center, which includes Lake Okeechobee and Melbourne. Rainfall will total between 4 to 6 inches with locally greater amounts. Flooding will be a concern, especially in low-lying areas.
Fay will track north-northeastward across central Florida through tonight, passing extremely close to Orlando. The storm will emerge into the Atlantic Ocean, near Daytona Beach on Wednesday morning.
Steering winds in the atmosphere will slow the forward motion of Fay after it moves over the Atlantic on Wednesday morning, before making a final landfall along the Georgia coast on Thursday.
