Zumba: Exercise in Disguise

Published Aug 27, 2008

As we all seek wellness and health, we may find that in spite of all the benefits we know exercise has for us, we aren’t actually enjoying it much.  It’s just not fun.  However – beginning September 5 – working out is going to change as we start to party.

Zumba – the new cardio workout inspired by Latin dances, is taking the fitness world by storm and thanks to instructor Kelly Vorhauer, it’s coming to Dawsonville.  Beginning in September, Kelly is launching “The Friday Night Dance Party” at the local Pilates Studio – The Pilates Point.  According to Kelly, “Zumba is exercise in disguise.”  It’s a fun workout with a party atmosphere.  In fact, Zumba’s tagline is “Ditch the workout.  Join the Party,” and that is exactly what happens.

Zumba classes combine salsa, samba, flamenco, hip-hop and even Egyptian style dance moves that will get your heart pumping and put a smile on your face as you dance away up to 1000 calories in an hour class.  Even without any prior dance experience, participants can shake and shimmy their way to fitness while having loads of fun.

The Friday Night Dance Party at The Pilates Point is an opportunity to have fun and dance, AND enjoy a great workout.  The first Friday Night Dance Party will be September 5 at 5:45 PM – however, space is limited to the first 15 participants, so registration is required.
