As you are thinking about those New Year’s resolutions for 2008, the Dawson County recreation staff offers some local “food for thought.”

“Of the 1440 minutes in each day, schedule 30 of them for physical activity,” recommends Dawson County Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Lisa Henson.  Centers for Disease Control confirm regular exercise is a critical part of staying healthy.  Devote 30 minutes a day to moderate physical activity to help maintain a healthy weight as well as delay or prevent diabetes, some cancers and heart problems.*

Activities such as walking briskly, dancing, swimming, or bicycling help you live longer and feel better.  Consider stretching or weightlifting to improve body strength and muscle mass.

With this in mind, Dawson County Parks and Recreation is proud to announce the 2008 Active Lifestyle Programs.  Most programs begin January 7.  Early registration is highly encouraged.
