It’s hard to believe that six years have passed since that horrific day.
We watched in disbelief as so many lives were taken away.
A normal routine of work for thousands in the Towers had just begun,
When tragedy struck, we lost friends, families, daughters and sons.
It was a day of sorrow we said we would never forget.
We embraced friends and family as we openly wept.
Matters of the heart became more important than matters of the mind.
Everyone was so anxious for reassurance of humankind.
Fear struck throughout America; we would never be the same.
How could we ever forget that day as the entire world felt our pain?
Through tears and ashes, New York’s firefighters lost their lives.
As they desperately tried to save, children, husbands and wives.
Homeland security made a promise to protect and serve everyone.
Yet, deep in our hearts we knew the battle had not been won.
America was strong and we would not lie down nor would we give in to defeat.
Many were aware of the cost and swore to fight to the end, never retreat.
Yes the memory of September 11th when the Towers were destroyed,
Will live forever in the hearts of our brave men and women who have been deployed.
They fight to defend our country, their families and, yes, even you and I.
We pray for their safety and never forget our heroes that have died.
September 11, 2001 was the day our entire world seemed to fall apart.
Honor the memory of those lost and support our military with your whole heart.
They are making sacrifices every day that only our Veterans can understand.
They are the proud, the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine and security from our Homeland.
