Dawson Republicans Honor United States Air Force Veterans

Published Aug 31, 2007

The United States Air Force will be celebrating its 60th anniversary on September 18, 2007.  On the date in 1947, President Harry Truman signed the legislation that created a distinct and new military branch – the United States Air Force.  In turn, the reserve components were also established:  the Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve.

To celebrate the anniversary, the Dawson County Republican Party will devote its regular September meeting to the United States Air Force.  The meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 18th at 7:30 pm at the Dawson County Public Library on Allen Street in Dawsonville.

The meeting will feature comments by Air Force veterans (including Dawson County Commissioner Mike Connor), special tributes, and even a birthday a cake!

If you know of a current member or former member of the active duty Air Force, Air National Guard, or Air Force Reserve, who would like to attend and share their memories, please have them contact Dawson County GOP Chairman Clint Smith at 678-316-8863.

All citizens are invited to attend.
