The Wee Read Community Action Team and Dawson County Homeowners Association are hosting an Old-Fashioned Barn Dance fundraiser on Saturday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. The family event will be held at Kinsey Family Farm and will feature BBQ dinner, a bonfire, wagon rides and barn dancing. Tickets are $35 in advance and $38 at the door.
All proceeds benefit the Wee Read program, bringing books to every child in Dawson County from birth to age five. For the cost of one ticket, you can guarantee that one child in Dawson County will a receive a book a month for an entire year. What a great way to give back to your community!
The Wee Read Community action Team consists of representatives from Reading Education Associates of Dawson County, Inc., Dawson County Woman’s Club, Inc., Dawson County Family Connection, Dawson County Mentoring Program, Dawson County School System and Dawson County Library.
Wee Read is a free program offered in conjunction with the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy. Open to all residents of Dawson County, enrollment in the program entitles children to receive a book mailed to their home every month from birth to age five. Enrollment forms are available at Dawson County Library, Dawson County Elementary schools and day care centers throughout the county.
