The annual Father’s Day Indian Festival and Rendezvous is happening this weekend at the Cumming Fairgrounds, June 16 and 17 -- Saturday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday, 12 Noon - 6 p.m.
A full weekend of culture fellowship through arts, entertainment and educational programming awaits visitors as they witness the brilliant colors and action filled dances of Native American’s best. Fancy dancers, Jingle dancers, Traditional dancers and the popular Hoop dancers add to the day's entertainment.
Learn about Native people as you visit an Indian encampment and walk through a Plains Indian Tipi. Listen to native story tellers, native flute, native drum and educational sessions on wild animals and birds and native language. Learn flint napping, tepee construction, earthen cooking, hide tanning, native dance and primitive skills. While you're visiting, you can shop for the perfect Father’s Day gift from the many native arts and crafts vendors. Then treat Dad to some native foods, such as buffalo burgers, Indian fry bread, gator tail, Indian tacos and roasted corn.
