As we slowly inch closer to spring, our interest in being outside increases. Lawns, gardens and landscapes have become places many people enjoy spending time. What some call “yard work” is enjoyment to many homeowners. If you are looking forward to planting in a lawn or garden, the local office of the University of Georgia Extension Service is offering a series of programs you may be interested in attending.
Beginning on Thursday, March 6, each Tuesday and Thursday in March the Extension Service will offer a different free lawn and garden-related program. The programs will start at 12:00 noon and end by 1:00 p.m. Some other Georgia counties have successfully used this lunch hour programming concept. Bring your lunch, if you wish, and learn about a subject of interest.
Each program will be held at the Dawson County Extension Office conference room. Space will be limited. You may pre-register by calling the Extension office at (706) 265-2442.
The list of programs offered is as follows:
March 6 - Small Fruits and Fruit Tree Care
March 11 - Turf Care Management
March 13 - How to Plant and Care for a Vegetable Garden
March 18 - Care For Trees In Your Landscape
March 20 - How to Be Successful Growing Roses
March 25 - Being Water Wise With Your Landscape
March 27 - How to Successfully Compost
If you have questions, please call the Dawson County office of the University of Georgia Extension Service at (706) 265-2442.
