Robinson Elementary fifth grade students -- through the school's Character Education Program -- are conducting community service projects throughout Dawson County. The students' first project is to assemble care packages for our American troops. The entire school is collecting items to send to our country's men and women fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Teachers, staff and students want service men and women to know that Robinson Elementary School is thinking of them.
Assembly of these special packages began this week and will be ongoing for the next couple of weeks. Each 5th grade homeroom will assemble packages one day per week, and the school hopes to have all packages ready to send out by December 7.
Some of the requested items include eye drops, baby wipes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, peanut butter crackers, etc. Robinson Elementary recently received a grant from Appalachian Bank to assist with shipping costs.
Robinson Elementary welcomes the public to participate in this endeavor and those interested are asked to contact Teri Wilkins at twilkins@dawson.k12.ga.us.
