Are you kidding me? An Australian Chardonnay which scored an 87 in the Wine Spectator for less than eight dollars? How about only seven dollars? That's right, a lessor known label from Victoria, Australia is having an advertising blitz complete with great pricing to introduce the United States to the Wandering Wallaby Wines. The 2004 Wandering Wallaby Chardonnay is described by the Spectator as a, "Bright, lively Chardonnay showing peach and tropical fruit aromas, followed by a well-balanced palate of peach, melon and fig, finishing with a crisp, clean finish."
I have enjoyed this Chardonnay by itself or as a great companion to light fare meals, or most seafood and poultry dishes. Also available is the Shiraz/Cabernet blend from Wandering Wallaby for the same price. This is 55% Shiraz and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon which is a very good bottle of wine for grilled meat and tomato-sauced pastas. It has good fruit exhibiting the flavors of red cherry from the Shiraz and black currant from the Cabernet Sauvignon.
Take a trip around Australia with these wonderful value priced wines on sale now at our store. You may never have had a better bottle of wine for less than seven dollars.
