Memorial Day is one of my most favorite holidays of the year, as it signals the beginning of summer, which means lots of fun outdoors in the warm weather. It also means outdoor parties with hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue, baseball and beer! Now if you prefer wine to beer, but want something a little more refreshing than your standard glass of Chardonnay for that outdoor party, why not try something new, which is actually something old?
Wine Spritzers are both tasty and refreshing and go well with hot summer outdoor parties. A combination of wine and club soda served over ice is a wonderful sensation and a great substitute for sodas or beer when the temperature requires a lot of liquids. I recommend an inexpensive Pinot Grigio for this drink such as the Barefoot Cellars California Pinot Grigio which we have available in both the 750ml and 1.5 Liter size. Below is a really easy recipe for a 'California Wine Spritzer.'
In a tall glass add ice
4 oz. of wine
Top off with 2 oz. of club soda
For a little extra flavor add 1 oz. of Peach Schnapps
