Ribbon Cutting to be Held for New Link from Humane Society to Park

Published Jul 9, 2008

The public is invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 18, 2008 at 11am in honor of the newly built path and bridge linking the Dawson County Humane Society with Rock Creek Park.

Members of the 2008 Management Development Training class are creating the path to assist volunteers walking the animals and potential individuals looking to adopt said Dawson County Board of Elections and class representative Karen Armstrong who introduced the idea to the class.

In March, managers and promising future leaders from both city and county governments of Dawson and Lumpkin embarked on a management development program facilitated by the University of Georgia and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government. The program is designed to improve management and leadership skills, while increasing the ability to work effectively together as a team.

Program members were asked to plan and implement a community improvement project to demonstrate skills learned in the program. “We are very grateful we could serve our community in this capacity,” Armstrong said.
